Highlights from UN’s Normative Work: Human Rights
2022 marked the launch of the Children and Youth Advisory Council, jointly established by the Human Rights Defender’s Office in Armenia and the UN. The formation of the council was a crucial milestone towards the independent monitoring of the rights of children and youth.
The “Accountable Institutions and Human Rights Protection in Armenia” EU-funded project implemented jointly by UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA and OSCE is one of the UN interventions to enhance rights-based approach in public service delivery, security sector governance and constitutional reform. In 2022, the partners boosted technical abilities of the new Patrol Police. Ministry of Justice and Human Rights Defender’s Office with focus on human rights protection in closed institutions; facilitated multi-stakeholder discussions for the new Human Rights Action Plan 2023-2025; while human rights and gender equality were integrated into the revised Police Education Complex curriculum.
